Water Main Break Closes Somerville Schools

A water main break caused Somerville Public Schools to be closed on Wednesday, Oct. 30, the district announced.

The water main break occurred on the border of Raritan and Somerville, the Raritan Police Department said Route 206 North is closed between Dukes Parkway and Orlando Drive, police said. Raritan residents will experience water usage issues, police said. 

"We are working with NJ American Water and our local emergency management and emergency responders to quickly resolve the situation and keep everyone safe," Mayor Brian Gallagher said.  "There is no water currently in Somerville. We will advise as soon as we have an approximate repair time from the water company."
